On my trip in the Cairngorms described in my last post I took a couple of very short video clips both to show the wonderful views and weather and to see how I managed hand holding the camera. I need to practise! I also need to clean the sensor. I can't work out how to get rid of that dust spot in the videos.

For hand held filming they're pretty good Chris! I used to have the same problem with dust on the sensor of my Lumix camera which had a bellows lens. Dust would get in through the joints in the lens housing and I wouldn't know about it until I saw the photos on the laptop. The dust 'blob' wasn't visible through the viewfinder.
ReplyDeleteI eventually plucked up courage, bought a set of jewellers screwdrivers, dismantled the camera and cleaned the sensor using a small can of compressed air. It worked fine but I got fed up having to do it and bought a camera without a bellows lens.
Good luck and hope you manage to sort it out - I know how annoying it is!
Thanks Ian. I do clean the sensor regularly - and it needs it! For stills it's not often a big problem as I can removed spots in Lightroom. I can't do this with video.
DeleteKeep 'em coming Chris. I too had a bit of dirt on my a6000 sensor. I'm ashamed to admit I just took a cloth to it there and then. I have been 'liberated' of all my gear recently, so next, maybe the weather sealed a6500 is an option? Shame the 18-135 lens isn't weather sealed though. Keep posting your practice sessions Chris!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jay. I'll keep posting! Sorry to hear about the loss of your gear. The new a6400 sounds good. I clean sensors regularly and removed dust spots in Lightroom. Can't remove them from videos though.
