The Cairngorms in Black & White after a misty day

Coire an t-Sneachda

Where's the sun? Having almost finished my Watershed book I finally made it to the hills just it seems as though the sunny weather has ended, at least in the Cairngorms. On a hazy misty day I wandered over the Plateau to Ben Macdui, whose top was fading in and out of the clouds. A snow bunting kept me entertained on the summit. There were no views.

The air was still warm and dry and the ground crisp and firm. The burns were running strongly though as there's still a fair amount of snow left. Across the Lairig Ghru the clouds were swirling around Braeriach.

Out beyond the Lairig Ghru over Rothiemurchus Forest to Aviemore the views were indistinct and vague, an unsubstantial world beyond the lowering crags of Creag an Leth-choin.

Weak sunshine started to filter through the clouds as I descended below Cairn Lochan but there was no power in it and the day remained mostly grey.
