The Great Outdoors Awards

Receiving an award from The Great Outdoors editor Emily Rodway

Last Wednesday The Great Outdoor Awards were held at the excellent Burgundy's Wine Bar and Brewhouse in Kendal. I was there for The Great Outdoors as one of the judges of the Gear Awards and also as a nominee in a couple of the reader nominated categories. I was Highly Commended (that is, second) in two of these - for Out There in the outdoor book category and for Personality of the Year. Thanks to everyone who voted for me

All the winners can be found here

Here's a few pictures from a very enjoyable event.

Presenting Terry Abraham with Vango's Highly Commended Award for the Fuse Sleeping Bag. Terry was there for Vango as he'd photographed several of their catalogues and videos in recent years. He also showed a short clip from his next film, which will be about the mountaineer Alan Hinkes, and then, with Alan, answered some questions about the film.

With Mel Nicholl of the John Muir Trust, which was Highly Commended in the Campaigner of the Year category. As a Trustee I was delighted the JMT received this recognition.
